The remake of classic sitcom Open All Hours has sparked huge interest in Doncaster with hundreds of fans expected to descend on Balby next month to try and catch a glimpse of filming.
Acting legend Sir David Jason as well as actresses Lynda Baron and Maggie Ollerenshaw, who played buxom Nursle Gladys Emmanuel and dithering customer Mavis respectively in the original run of the series, are due in Doncaster in November to record the one-off Christmas special which now sees Granville running the famed corner shop.

The Free Press took a visit to Lister Avenue in Balby to see how the street looks today, 28 years after the last episode was filmed, using corner hairdessing salon Beautique for exterior shots of Arkwright’s shop.
