Women across Doncaster are gearing up for the biggest date in the town’s social calendar tomorrow. For Thursday is Leger Ladies’ Day when a string of hopefuls will be going head to head in the famed Best Dressed Lady Competition.
Skellow’s Elite Bridal and Occasionwear is among the shops who have helped dress women who will be vying for a place in the final.
Models Abbie Smith and Danielle Hanson are seen sporting some of the designs in this video.
Owner Lisa Leighton said that dresses, hats and fascinators had all proved popular in the run-up to tomorrow’s big day.
Kieran Gallagher, executive director at Doncaster racecourse, said: “Ladies Day is a fantastic social occasion, and the ladies in this part of the world never fail to impress with their stunning outfits and fashion statements.
“The competition to take the coveted Best Dressed Lady crown really is tough, as ladies need to really stand out among the crowds to be selected by the team of scouts on the day.”
Furniture company DFS, which has been part of the South Yorkshire landscape for more than 45 years and has become one of the UK’s most well-known retailers, is sponsoring Ladies Day at Doncaster Racecourse for the seventh successive year.
Mark Mallinder, Head of Marketing at DFS, said: “We’re delighted to continue our support of Ladies Day, part of the prestigious St. Leger Festival. As the UK’s biggest sofa company we wish all of the ladies taking part, and those involved with Best Dressed Lady on the day, the very best of luck.”
The Best Dressed Lady competition has long been a highlight of DFS Ladies Day. Previous prize packages have included a holiday to New York, shopping vouchers, spa days and much more. The overall winner of the Best Dressed Lady will be invited back to represent Doncaster Racecourse in Yorkshire’s Best Dressed Lady 2015 – taking place back at Doncaster on Racing Post Trophy Day on October 24.
