A MAN has taken on and beaten Doncaster Council in a row over sheds.
Kenneth Unwin has won an appeal against the authority’s planning department after it ordered him to remove the structures from land at Kirton Lane, Thorne.
Mr Unwin has been using the sheds to provide shelter for animals he keeps at the site, bordering open fields.
Doncaster Council had issued an enforcement notice ordering them to be knocked down because its officers thought they were harmful to the character of the area, after receiving a complaint.
But a Government inspector has overthrown the council order after he visited the site. He said: “I conclude no harm arises to the character and appearance of the open countryside.”
