EIGHT cars parked on a Chesterfield street on the same day were damaged in a spate of vandalism.

Police said mirrors were kicked off the cars on Boythorpe Avenue, near Queen’s Park.

The damaged cars included a Nissan Terrano, Honda Civic, Volkswagen Passat, Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta and an Audi TT.

They were all attacked between 8am and 7pm on Wednesday December 29.

One man who regularly parks his car on Boythorpe Avenue had his wing mirrors broken off four times in five days.

The Nissan Micra’s wing mirrors were damaged on December 17 and again on December 19, 20 and 21.

Officers investigating the incident are also looking into a number of other similar attacks on cars in the area.

On Sunday January 2 a woman parked her Peugeot car in the Queen’s Park Leisure Centre car park had both wing mirrors kicked off.

And a Saab parked on Goyt Side Road had its wing mirror knocked off between midnight on New Year’s Eve and 8am the following day.

On December 11 a group of four youths were seen on CCTV kicking the wing mirrors off a Honda Civic in the upper car park of Queen’s Park Leisure Centre at around 7.30pm.

Pc Paul Hubbard slammed the vandals as “mindless”.

He said: “We are taking these mindless acts of vandalism seriously and are increasing patrols in the area and paying extra attention to Queen’s Park.

“People should be vigilant and contact police immediately if they see anything suspicious or unusual.”
