Van fire closes major Sheffield road

Emergency services were called to Abbeydale Road, Sheffield at around 2.20pm this afternoon following reports that a white Ford Transit van was on fire.

Firefighters from Lowedges attended the blaze, using hoses to extinguish the flames.

The road was closed at the junction with Woodseats Road while the incident was resolved and the vehicle was recovered.

The police say the road is still closed but will reopen imminently.
