Police helped a woman down from a railway bridge in Sheffield early this morning amid concerns for her welfare.

Officers were called out to the incident in Chapeltown at 6.30am and Ecclesfield Road was blocked off while they spoke to the woman concerned.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: "Reports were received of concern for a woman on a railway bridge.

"Officers attended and the woman was removed to safety at around 6.50am."
