Police divers have been searching a Doncaster lake this morning as part of their investigation in to a horror crash which left three people dead and another fighting for his life.

These photos show divers in Askern Lake. It is believed they arrived at around 9.30am and left late morning.

Four people were walking along Sutton Road, Askern when they were involved in a collision with a blue Volvo S60 at around 11pm on Saturday, December 26.

Three of the pedestrians died as a result of their injuries. They have been named locally as couple Andy Tomlinson, 48, and Fay Tomlinson, 54 and friend Mandy Deere, also aged 54.

The fourth pedestrian, a 57-year-old man, suffered what police describe as ‘life-threatening injuries’ in the collision. He has been named locally as Mandy’s husband, John Deere. Police yesterday confirmed he remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A police spokesman said: “Specialist underwater officers have been conducting searches at Askern Lake today.

“The search was part of an ongoing investigation into a fatal collision in Sutton Road, Askern on Saturday 26 December.

The searches have now concluded.”

A man has been charged with a string of offences, relating to the crash, including three counts of death by dangerous driving, three counts of aggravated vehicle taking, three counts of causing a death while driving uninsured and unlicensed.
