A police investigation is underway into a fight that broke out on a Sheffield street this morning, following a two-vehicle crash.

The incident took place in Stradbroke Road at around 9.30am this morning.

A police spokesman said of the incident: "It is reported that a number of men became involved in a fight in the Stradbroke Road area, before several of the men fled the scene.

"It is believed that some of the men were travelling in a vehicle that was involved in a collision with a Mitsubushi Shogun in Stradbroke Road prior to the fighting and police being called.

"The road was closed for a time while police responded to the incident to ensure the wider safety of the local community.

"At this time, officers believe those involved may be known to each other and enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The road was closed for a number of hours while police investigation work took place.
