A TOP young pianist is to perform a lunchtime recital for music lovers at Sheffield Cathedral.

Emmanual Vass, who was born in the Philippines and whose parents used to live on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, last year graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester as a double scholar.

Since his graduation last July, he has performed a recital for the French ambassador at The Lowry Theatre in Salford, been broadcast live on BBC radio and featured alongside international stars The Manfreds and Lulu in a show for the Prince and Princess of Monaco.

Mr Vass recently made his debut at Manchester’s prestigious Bridgewater Hall and he is also through to the final round of auditions to become the pianist for the next Andrew Lloyd Webber TV show.

The show, on Tuesday, starting at 1.15pm, will include works by Bach, Haydn, Chopin and Lecuona.
