A PASSENGER knocked unconscious in a car crash had to be cut free from the back of the vehicle by firefighters.

Crews from Sheffield’s Central and Darnall stations were called to Ashgate Close, Broomhill, at 4.48am today, where an Audi A3 car had collided with a set of parked cars.

A South Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said: “The male driver of the Audi had left the vehicle conscious and breathing through the driver’s door. Firefighters cut away the hatch at the rear of the car to enable the male back seat passenger to be removed, unconscious but breathing.

“Both men received treatment at the scene from ambulance crews, before being taken to hospital.”
