DUTCH-born Martijn Mugge is heading to South Yorkshire to be ordained as a deacon by the Bishop of Sheffield.
Martijn is to become the new Curate of Wombell, Barnsley, where he will serve as deacon for a year before being eligible to be ordained as priest. He and his wife have four children.
After studying in Spain and Brazil, Martijn, who is married with four children, came to England in 1995 to work for a national training company helping unemployed people back into work.
He and his family moved to Oak Hill Theological College in 2009 to prepare for full-time ministry.
Martijn said: “After three years the whole family are now looking forward to joining the St Mary’s and St George’s congregations in the Parish of Wombwell where I will be a full-time curate.”
He is due to be ordained as deacon into the Church of England by the Bishop, Dr Steven Croft, at a service in Sheffield Cathedral on Sunday, July 1.
