Detectives investigating two rapes - that happened little over 24 hours apart - say they are not treating the incidents as linked.

A woman aged in her 30s was allegedly attacked on Market Street, Rotherham town centre, in broad daylight at 2pm last Thursday.

The following day a 16-year-old girl reported a similar attack on Badsley Moor Lane, Herringthorpe, between 9.30pm and 10.30pm.

But a South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman confirmed 'there is not believed to be a link' between the two crimes.

Detectives arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the town centre attack and he has now been released pending further enquiries.

In relation to the second incident, police are hunting a man described as having a slim build, around 6ft tall and wearing a dark Nike hoodie.
