Two men have appeared in court after a stabbing in Sheffield city centre.

A 45-year-old man was taken to the Northern General Hospital where he remains critical following the incident on Dixon Lane near the junction with Haymarket on Friday.

The attack happened at around 4.50pm on Friday afternoon and police arrested and charged two men at the weekend.

Orrett Duncan, aged 39 of Harborough Avenue, Manor, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm and Mark Walker, aged 18, of Brightmore Drive, Netherthorpe, is accused of assisting offenders.

Both men appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court yesterday and the case was sent to Sheffield Crown Court.

■In a separate incident police were called to Glossop Road, Sheffield, after a 23-year old man from Lincolnshire was found unconscious outside the Harley Hotel.

Officers were called at 2.16am on Sunday morning.

Two 31-year-old men and a 33-year-old man, all from Sheffield, were arrested and then released on bail pending further enquiries.
