DETECTIVES hunting two men in connection with a sex attack on a teenage girl in Stainforth, Doncaster, today issued an appeal for information from the public.
A 17-year-old has given police a statement about a serious sexual assault that took place last week and forensic evidence is being analysed by scientists.
The alleged incident is believed to have taken place at around 1am on Friday last week at Peacock Park, just off East Lane, which the girl was walking through.
Police say there may have been two men involved in the alleged assault on the victim.
Detectives say they are in the early stages of the investigation and are conducting inquiries to ascertain the exact details of the incident, to gather evidence and identify any persons involved.
So far there have been no arrests.
Det Sgt Helen Lewis, of Doncaster CID, said last night: “Incidents of this nature are quite rare in Doncaster, however I want to reassure the public we are dealing with this incident as a priority and will always treat reports of sexual assault seriously and confidentially.
“I would urge anyone with information to please come forward to assist with the investigation.”
