Two hurt in car and bike crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Wath-upon-Dearne which left two people seriously injured.

The incident happened at 1pm today on Doncaster Road, next to Staithes public house.

A blue Ford Ka was apparently turning right from Doncaster Road into Old Doncaster Road when it was in collision with a black Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorbike, travelling the opposite way along Doncaster Road.

The rider, a 22-year-old man from Mexborough, suffered serious lower back and internal injuries. He is currently detained in Rotherham District General Hospital.

His pillion passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Mexborough, sustained serious multiple fractures to her back. She is detained in Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital.
