Two hospitalised after burglary at north east Derbyshire farmhouse

Two people have been hospitalised after a burglary at a farmhouse in which cash and high value jewellery were stolen.

Officers were called to a house on Main Road in West Handley last night (Tuesday, March 14) at 10.15pm to reports of a burglary.

Three men allegedly attended the property at around 9.15pm and demanded that the occupants handed over cash and jewellery.

The occupants received minor injuries and required hospital treatment.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Of the three men, two were white and one was black.

All of them spoke with Nottinghamshire accents and were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

Detective Inspector Darren Pope said: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Were you in the area yesterday evening?

“Have you seen anyone or any vehicles acting suspiciously in the area? If you live locally, do you have CCTV? If so, please contact us.”
