Two charged over hammer robbery at Sheffield garage

Two men have been charged after staff at a Sheffield petrol station were threatened with hammers in an armed robbery.

The incident happened at around 10.40pm on Monday at the Shell garage on Handsworth Road.

Staff were allegedly threatened with lump hammers, with the two men making off with £16.20 worth of cigarettes. Around an hour later, an attempted robbery was reported to police in Wortley Road, Rotherham.

Hassan Siddique, 27, of Broom Valley Road, Rotherham, is charged with robbery, attempted robbery, and threatening a person with an offensive weapon.

Simon Porter, 27, of Friars Croft, Wentworth, is charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

They will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday, July 29.
