Two men have been arrested following a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Sheffield.

The men, aged 21 and 22, handed themselves in at a police station today where they were arrested for failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

It comes after a 20-year-old man was hit by a Ford Focus on Abbeydale Road at the junction with Batt Street, Highfield, at around 9.20pm on Sunday.

The car stopped, picked up the man and put him in the car.

He was then dropped off outside the Hallamshire Hospital before the vehicle drove away.

The injured man remains in hospital.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The injured man remains in hospital where he is being treated for knee injuries and a broken collar bone.

The two men, both from the Sheffield area, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
