MORE than 4,270 people were caught watching TV without a licence in Sheffield last year after a crackdown by TV Licensing authorities.

Add that to the 2,070 in Rotherham, 1,590 in Barnsley and 2,370 in Doncaster, and the total reaches more than 10,410 people caught watching TV illegally across South Yorkshire.

Tim Downs, TV Licensing spokesperson, said: “It’s not fair on the vast majority of people in Sheffield who pay their licence fee for some people to watch without paying.”
