A TONED team of lawyers will trot out their tummies in Sheffield today as part of a campaign to end violence against women.
City solicitors Taylor and Emmet LLP are sending their family department staff to join a flash mob belly dance from 1pm in Barker’s Pool.
The event will mark VDay, a global movement highlighting the plight of women and girls subjected to violence, and also support One Billion Rising, which aims to unite a billion supporters through dance.
Sheffield Rising 2013, with help from local dancers and musicians, organised the event.
Michaela Heathcote, head of the family team, said: “We work closely with the city’s domestic violence units and see first-hand how devastated women are by abuse.
“Not only do they endure physical injuries, but they are also subject to a psychological ordeal that can often be more damaging in the long term.”
