TWO prisoners were taken to hospital and two put in solitary confinement after a disturbance at Lindholme prison in Doncaster.

A special prison service riot unit known as the Tornado Team was sent into the complex on Bawtry Road in Hatfield Woodhouse after trouble flared at 5pm on Saturday.

Firefighters from Thorne and Doncaster stations also attended.

A Prison Service spokeswoman said the incident was resolved at 10.15pm.

She added: “Two prisoners were taken to segregation and two were taken to an outside hospital for medical treatment. There were no injuries to staff and there was minimal disruption to the prison regime.”

A fire service spokesman said they were called in after reports of prisoners barricading themselves into cells.
