BRITAIN’S Malaysian community gathered in Sheffield for the annual Malaysian Games event.

People travelled from across the country to the Concord Sports Centre in Shiregreen.

Visitors competed in a variety of sports including table tennis, five-a-side volleyball and badminton as well as activities such as chess and Scrabble.

Many also took part in a competition of Batu Seremban, or five stones, in which players tossed pebbles in the air while simultaneously trying to pick up others.

Spectators who watched the competitions were treated to a feast of traditional Malaysian cuisine.

The event, organised by Sheffield Malaysian Students Association, aimed to promote Malaysian culture and encourage integration of expatriots into their local communities.
