RECEPTION rooms at Sheffield Town Hall were transported back in time for an event to help the future of the planet.

The Victorian reception rooms were transformed into a 1940s tea party with Union Jack bunting, tea, jam, scones and Victoria sponge cake. There were also the obligatory authentic dapper chaps and spiffing girls.

More than 80 people attended the event, held during national Climate Week, to mark the end of the Sheffield is My Planet Switch Off and Save energy-saving campaign.

The event was the work of the Sheffield Low Carbon Showcase, to celebrate the green efforts of Sheffield organisations involved in low carbon activities.

More than 20 organisations exhibited, including Groundwork’s Green Doctors, the South Yorkshire Energy Centre, architects Mott MacDonald, Sheffield Friends of the Earth, and Sheffield Renewables.
