MEET the three women hoping to mount a comeback for the Conservatives in Sheffield.
Their party might be the largest in the coalition Government but, despite having about 15 per cent of the vote at local elections each year in Sheffield, the Tories have not had a Sheffield Council seat since 2008.
Anne Smith, former member for Dore and Totley, is standing again in her old ward, while businesswoman Vonny Watts is the candidate in Fulwood.
Christina Stark has been nominated in Ecclesall.
The trio were given support by Simon Reevell, Conservative MP for Dewsbury, who spoke at the launch of the party’s local campaign.
Mrs Smith, who has already been out campaigning in her ward and has set up a new website – www.annesmithconservative.co.uk – said: “Nearly 50 local party members attended the event and we were all hugely inspired by Simon’s speech.”
