A QUANTITY of exam papers was stolen from a Parcelforce depot in South Yorkshire - resulting in the arrest of three men.
The exams had been taken by pupils at two South Yorkshire primary schools and were on their way to be marked at the Edexcel exam board centre on the Hellaby industrial estate.
They were taken as part of a haul of parcels and packages from Parkgate Business Park, Rotherham by a 30-year-old, a 25-year-old and a 19-year-old, all from the Leeds area.
They have all been bailed pending further police inquiries.
Many of the papers were later recovered - from a location believed to be a skip in Goole.
One of the schools had all its exams found but the other still has some scripts missing.
A Post Office spokeswoman said the exam papers were among a number of items stolen.
“South Yorkshire Police are investigating and we would urge anyone with any information to contact them directly,” she added.
A Department for Education spokesman said: “The vast majority of the papers have been recovered but maths tests from about 10 pupils are still missing. All the recovered pupil scripts will be marked as normal.”
