Tributes to train death woman

Tributes have been paid to a Sheffield woman who died after falling under a train.

Billie Jane Coulton, aged 28, of Parson Cross, fell onto the tracks at Mexborough railway station shortly after midnight on Thursday.

An inquest into her death is planned, but it is believed Billie had just missed the last train home when she died.

Two men were arrested in connection with the death, but later released without charge.

The train involved was an empty Northern Rail service returning to its depot.

Tributes posted on Facebook reveal Billie Jane was a former Birkdale School student in Sheffield.

She was also known on Sheffield’s club scene and was a regular at Niche.

Friend Katie Annahita Muscroft said: “My condolences go to Billie’s family – I remember Billie from old Niche days, she would come up and always say hi to me while they raved the night away.”

Lovinia Johnson said: “RIP Billie Jane. Whenever I saw you always had the biggest smile on your face.”

Another friend, Emz Grace,, said: “She was a good girl that would chat and make friends with most.”

And another friend, Laila, said: “Today has been a sad day for me. I found out my friend of 10 years is dead. Me and Billie were very close.

“No matter how long it was since we had seen each other she always ran up to me and gave me a massive hug.

“She was so funny. Billie I love you and I hope you’re at peace now.”

An inquest into Billie’s death is expected to be opened this week.
