Mr Carter, who runs the sock stall on the market, led the tributes to Mr Sheppard.

He said: “Everybody loved him.

“He had a fantastic personality and we had such a laugh together over the years – it was a pleasure knowing him and working with him.

“There are a lot of people left very upset by the news.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time,” he added.

An obituary report placed in last week’s Derbyshire Times said Mr Sheppard leaves his partner Tiffany Atkinson, son James, father Raymond, of Chesterfield, mother Judith, of Newquay, brother Mark, sister Fleur, nephew Jeorge and nieces Alisha and Jade.

Mr Sheppard’s interests included fishing, gardening, listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

Mr Sheppard’s funeral service took place at Brimington Crematorium on Friday.

Mr Carter said: “It was a good send-off for him.”

On the Derbyshire Times’ Facebook page, readers said they were saddened to hear about Mr Sheppard’s death and said their thoughts were with his family.
