Tributes have been paid to a keen footballer found dead outside his home in Doncaster on Christmas Day.

The man, named locally as Lee Pearsall, was pronounced dead at his home in Ellershaw Lane, Conisbrough, on Christmas morning by paramedics.

Mr Pearsall, aged 30, a former Northcliffe School pupil and footballer who used to play for Alma Old Boys, was found on the ground by his mother who called an ambulance.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 10.32am on Thursday, December 25, by the ambulance service to an address on Ellershaw Lane, Conisbrough.

“A 30-year-old man had been found outside the address and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“Police do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances and are preparing a file for the coroner.”

It is believed one line of enquiry is that Mr Pearsall fell out of a window.

Since his death local football clubs have staged games in his memory and tributes have been paid to him on the Denaby United Facebook page.

Kathleen Epton wrote: “Our heart goes out to the family. He was a lovely lad.”
