Plans to transform a neglected Sheffield woodland into a wildlife paradise have moved a step closer.
Residents of Abbeydale have shown their support for proposals to create a beauty spot for public use next to Dalton Court community centre.
Details of proposals for the site were unveiled at an event which included more than 50 people building and decorating bird boxes.
The site has been cleared of rubbish and further development will take place this year.
Stewart Holmes, Abbeydale Tenants and Residents Association chairman, said, “Having the community involved in the plans for the area means they are more likely to look after it. We’ve had things taken out that were safety concerns.
“It looks like it’ll be a valuable community resource.”
Coun Nikki Bond, Sheffield Council member for Nether Edge, said: “The woodland will make a great habitat for wildlife.”
