Council contractors were called out after a tree blew down in Sheffield as strong winds and rain battered the city yesterday.
The tree came down on Sicey Avenue, Shiregreen, blocking the road and the pavement, but fortunately no-one was injured.
Police said wind speeds had reached up to 31mph in South Yorkshire.
Across the country three people were killed and another three were injured in weather-related incidents.
The storm is the tail-end of Hurricane Gonzalo, which hit Bermuda last week and caused travel disruption in some parts of the UK.
