Trains through Sheffield are delayed by up to 30 minutes after a car hit a railway bridge.

A vehicle is thought to have hit a bridge in Heeley, meaning trains are unable to get to and from the station.

Delays are expected to continue until at least 6.45pm.

Train operators CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail are all affected.

A National Rail spokesman said: “A vehicle has struck a bridge near Sheffield, this is causing delays of up to 30 minutes to trains through this station.

“This is expected to continue until at least 18.45.”
