POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a trackside fire between Goldthorpe and Thurnscoe railway stations.
The incident, which took place in the late evening of Thursday, July 21, involved vandals getting on to the line and setting fire to plastic pipes.
Detective constable Mick Kelly said the blaze spread across a wooded area, reaching a relay box and causing signal failure.
Two youths were seen in Lindley Crescent shortly after the fire was reported .
The boys were later picked up by a group in a vehicle, believed to be a silver Toyota Corolla Verso.
