A cyclist who died in a collision on the Dronfield Bypass one week ago today has been identified.
Malcom Cottam, aged 55, was involved in an accident on the A61 at around 3.20pm on Thursday, July 31 but for a week nobody came forward to report him missing.
Today, police officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, said he had been formally identified by a relative.
A computer generated image was issued earlier in the week in the hope that somebody would recognise him.
A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said: “Officers who were trying to identify a man who died as a result of a collision in Dronfield have named him today following a formal identification by his family.
Malcolm Cottam, from Sheffield, suffered serious head injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Northern General Hospital, in Sheffield, where he later died.
Police would again like to thank the public for information received in trying to identify Mr Cottam.”
