Steelers head coach Doug Christiansen, a former team mate and longtime friend of the player, said: “I have known Randy for close to two decades and he is one of my best friends.

“He has lived at my house, stood in my wedding and we have shared the best of times. I was deeply saddened to hear the news and our deepest sympathy goes to the entire Dagenais family. Randy and Helene are blessed to have an extremely close family, which has already suffered terrible loss over the last year. The Steeler Family has come together to support Randy before and he will need us all now, more than ever.”
