A key road in Sheffield remains closed today after a major water leak caused traffic chaos.
The burst on Glossop Road yesterday caused traffic to back up across the city centre, with Ecclesall Road and West Street left gridlocked.
Yorkshire Water has repaired the main but there has been extensive damage caused to the road and footpath near the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Sheffield University’s union.
Staff are working with Sheffield Council to repair the damage by June 11 - so completion is likely to take several days.
The road remains closed until it can be made safe, but as yet there is no timescale for when it will reopen.
It was first closed from Claremont Place to Upper Hanover Street at 4am on Friday.
The water supply of some nearby properties were affected.
