STUDENTS from a South Yorkshire college have won a prize in a national toy designing competition.
Martha Gregory, Leigh Roberts, Casey Turner and Darcie Lacey, all aged 15, from Maltby Academy, Rotherham, won £1,000 for designing the ‘Trickii Twistd Pod’.
The toy, for young adults with disabilities, incorporates a spinner and a marble maze and was the winning creation in the 12 to 17 category at the Trading Standards Institute conference in Manchester.
Reg Howard, design technology teacher, said: “I’m very proud of them.
“They worked hard at lunchtimes and after school.”
