The Tour de France will be remembered as ‘one of the greatest sporting events in the city’s history’.
Coun Isobel Bowler, Sheffield Council cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure, said: “This has been a memorable day for Sheffield and for Yorkshire.
“It was wonderful to see so many thousands of people supporting the event and embracing the excitement and the spectacle of the Tour de France as it came through Sheffield.
“It will be remembered as one of the greatest sporting events in the city’s history.
“The event has given us a fantastic opportunity to showcase the city and promote it as a tourism and investment destination, as the race was televised worldwide to over 180 countries.”
