SHEFFIELD fountains were spouting liquid sunshine today as part of a marketing campaign for the Tour de France.
The fountains in the Peace Gardens and Barkers Pool lit up the premiere Yorkshire Festival arts festival - 100 days ahead of Le Grand Depart.
And to ensure Sheffield people were at the heart of the global phenomenon that is #TDF2014, Star Editor James Mitchinson appealed to Sheffielders to send in their ‘Yellow Fountain Selfies’.
Sheffielder @JamyTart was the first to fly the flag for the city, proving to the rest of Yorkshire that the Steel City cannot wait for the tour to arrive.
Mr Mitchinson said: “Turning the city yellow is all well and good, but it’s the people of this city that matter - that’s why I want to see some yellow fountain selfies.
“The weirder the better, too. I’ll even offer up a £25 prize for the selfie that features the most people.”
So don’t hang about - get your smartphones at the ready and get snapping those selfies. Using #YellowFountainSelfie send your snaps to @SheffieldStar on Twitter or pop them on our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/sheffieldstar
