Tory resigns over report
A LEADING county councillor has resigned in the wake of an Audit Commission report that criticised her "incompetent" book-keeping work for a Peak District parish council.
Coun Tracy Critchlow stepped down as Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for young people, after she was dismissed from her post as responsible finance officer at Tideswell Parish Council.
An Audit Commission report into the parish council's books for 2008/9 said 4,773 of cheques received were not banked in the year and rent of 2,800 was not invoiced.
The report described the mistakes as being "due to the incompetence of the responsible financial officer."
Coun Critchlow is ward councillor for the Hope Valley and stood as Conservative parliamentary candidate for Mansfield in May.
