THE achievements of Doncaster police officers and staff over the past year have been recognised at an awards ceremony.

The winners were chosen for their excellent work and positive contributions in keeping Doncaster a safe place to live and work.

District Commander Chief Supt Bob Sanderson handed out 10 awards recognising the diverse work that is carried out across the district in the fight against crime.

As well as winning the district awards, four of the officers scooped first place in the Force Leaders in Action Awards, up against nominations from across South Yorkshire.

PC Hannah Grey won Student Officer of the Year, Special Constable of the Year went to Special Sergeant Adrian Fuller, the Leaders in Action Team award went to the Public Protection Unit, and Inspector Paul Sellars won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dean Humphries was runner up in the Police Staff of the Year category.
