Top baby names for '09

CHLOE and Harry were the most popular baby names in Sheffield during 2009.

The Star reported yesterday how Lily and Charlie topped the pops across South Yorkshire last year.

But in Sheffield alone the name Lily was less popular, tying for fourth place with Evie, while Charlie took second spot in the boys' list.

Olivia and Ruby took second and third places in the Sheffield top 10.

For boys names inspired by the Royal Family hogged three out of the top four places - Harry was number one, Charlie number two, and William number four. Jack was the third most popular name.

The list was compiled from the names of all the new babies whose births were registered in Sheffield during the past year.

Nationally the most chosen baby names of 2009 were Olivia and Jack.
