HOUSEHOLDS have less than a week remaining to sign up to a money-saving scheme run by Sheffield Council.
The Big Sheffield Switch involves residents clubbing together to bulk-buy gas and electricity, which could save £150 on annual fuel bills.
About 6,000 households have now signed up and the deadline is Monday, April 8.
Coun Jack Scott, Sheffield Council cabinet member for environment, said: “The scheme is a great opportunity for households to save money as living costs spiral.”
Under the Big Sheffield Switch, the council will invite energy companies to submit tenders for the households who have signed up, and the cheapest firm will be chosen.
Similar schemes are operating around the country.
