The response to recent tragic events will overshadow the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris from November 30 to December 11.

But the talks and their outcome are vital. 2015 could well be the warmest year globally since records began.

This is not about saving the planet which will be here long after we are gone.

It’s about the ability of our planet to maintain life if we are unable to slow down and stop global warming.

About 25 per cent of the species on Earth could be extinct by 2050 unless urgent action is taken starting now.

Sheffield Climate Alliance is an alliance of local organisations and individuals pressing for effective action to tackle climate change.

They are organising Time for the Climate events in Tudor Square from noon to 4.30pm on Saturday, which we hope that you will support.
