Tim's close shave to back his son
A COLLEGE manager is having his head shaved today to support his young son who is battling leukaemia.
Tim Gladman, aged 39, wants to show solidarity for his six-year-old Toby, who is being treated at Sheffield Children's Hospital and will lose his hair when he starts aggressive chemotherapy treatment later this month.
Tim, from Worksop, a business development manager, will be joined by colleague Rod Glasgow for the headshave and the pair are set to raise thousands for the hospital along with charities Click Sargent, Leukaemia Research, and the Parents' Association for Children with Tumours and Leukaemia.
Tim said: "Toby was diagnosed with leukaemia in January and, although he is coping well with the chemotherapy, the aggressive intensified plan starts this month with one of the side-effects being hair loss.
"When he was first diagnosed I said I would keep him company and have my hair shaved off as well, and that really cheered him up so we set about collecting sponsorship.
"This is our way of turning a negative into a positive and to raise money for good causes - particularly Sheffield Children's Hospital where the staff have been such a huge support to us all."
