TWO men and a teenage boy have been arrested after the car they were travelling in smashed into a wall and a lamppost following a car chase in Sheffield this morning.

The trio - aged 24, 23 and 16 - were travelling in a grey Volkswagen Golf which was pulled over by police at just before 5.15am on East Bank Road.

Officers then pursued the car for a short distance before it collided with the wall and lamppost, causing damage to the vehicle.

The males in the car suffered minor injuries in the crash and were taken to the Northern General Hospital for treatment. All three were also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

East Bank Road was closed between its junctions with Farm Road and Olive Grove Road until around 8.40am.
