FINAL preparations are taking place ahead of the annual Rotherham Show.
For over three decades, the annual spectacular, which retains its prestigious crown as the largest land show in the north of England, has grown from humble beginnings and is expected to attract tens of thousands of people.
Taking place this year on September 8 and 9 in Clifton Park, the show is set to bring 48 hours of fun, music, excitement and entertainment.
The show, organised by Rotherham Council, will include favourites such as a vintage vehicle rally, horticultural show, plus entertainment.
The main arena, sponsored by Rother FM, will host displays by performers including the Stannage International Stunt Team and the Kangaroo Gymnastics Display Team.
On the Saturday, a folk festival will bring together talent from the international, national and local music scene, headlined by Elbow Jane.
Sunday’s treat will be a day of jazz, headlined by Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists, The Jive Aces.
For those who prefer the sound of brass bands, Rotherham Town, Maltby Miners’ Welfare, Thurcroft Colliery and Dinnington Colliery will perform. In the One Town, One Community area, there will be crafts, arts and plenty of live performances.
Coun Roger Stone, Rotherham Council leader, said: “The Rotherham Show is the highlight of summer in the borough and gets better and better each year.”
