Thorne woman badly hurt in crash

Two people were trapped in their vehicles after a crash on the A18 near Thorne this morning.

The woman, a 34-year-old from Thorne, was driving a silver Peugeot towards Scunthorpe when the collision with a white Iveco van occurred at the High Levels Bank junction with Crow Tree Bank.

She suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital, where she is said to be in a `stable’ condition.

The van driver, who had been travelling in the opposite direction, is a 57-year-old man from Epworth, Doncaster. He suffered whiplash injuries and was treated at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary, before being allowed home.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision. Anyone who can help should ring South Yorkshire Police on: 101 and quote incident number 133 of 21 October, 2013.
