ENGLAND football stars signed a new-style team shirt to raise money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
The unique framed shirt was presented to charity director Rachel Thorpe by Sheffield lottery winner Ray Wragg and Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards.
Now the strip - signed by the entire squad after their friendly against Holland on February 29 - will be auctioned to raise money for Sheffield’s cancer hospital.
The funds will boost the charity’s Extra Time campaign, which was also launched on February 29.
The campaign promotes the idea that, on this leap year, Weston Park Hospital can give people extra time with their loved ones.
Sir Dave said: “All the players were brilliant and had no hesitation in signing it because they knew it was for a good cause.
“We don’t always like extra time in football, but it is a fantastic thing to give people with cancer those extra weeks, months or years with their families.”
Ray, who went to school with Sir Dave in Upperthorpe more than 50 years ago, said: “It’s fantastic that we’ve managed to arrange this - I hope it raises a lot of money.”
Rachel Thorpe said: “Anyone who would like to hang this on their wall should visit www.extratimeappeal.org.”
