Dance group bosses have been left devastated after burglars used a crowbar to steal their safe.
Hype Academy dance group – a non-profit company in Sheffield – discovered the break-in just hours before taking to the stage for an annual charity show.
Cash, cheques and a laptop were stolen from the Earl Street offices. Artistic director Anna Olejnicki said: “What’s made the blow a lot harder is that it was the weekend of our annual show.
“It is a real strong community weekend. I can’t put into words how it feels. Students and staff are devastated. But the sold-out show, at the Library Theatre, did go on, raising cash for St Luke’s Hospice.
Anna added: “I found out about it at 12pm and our show was at 2pm. The show must go on and it did.”
n Police are investigating the burglary at around 4.40am on Saturday December 10. Call them on 101 quoting incident number 533 of December 10.
