ECCLESALL Theatre Company stole the show by winning an impressive haul of six trophies at a city drama festival.
The drama group won a series of honours in the Sheffield and District Amateur Theatre Association one act play festival at the Library Theatre.
The play Heart’s Desire by Caryl Churchill won Rhiannon Millar, aged 19, the title of best director – in her debut directorial role.
Ecclesall’s production took the overall first place in the week-long competition.
Meg Crook won best actress, Graham Millar won best actor and the production also received the stagecraft and SADATA awards.
Adjudicator Russell Whiteley said it was a daring, breathtaking production which was all the more impressive having been directed by such a young talent.
Rhiannon, who is about to start a Theatre and Performance degree at Sheffield University, said: “I am very glad the company had faith in me to direct this play, which was a lot of hard work but great fun too.”
